Okay so I would like to tell you all that I believe I am now officially insane. I have registered to run the 5K in May, and I ran/walked 3 miles on Saturday in anticipation of...anticipating it....lol My legs still hurt a little from it and I even got a horrible time (at least, in my opinion): 45 minutes! I'm excited for the race and all, but I'm not especially looking forward to the prospect of the pain and the training beforehand. Oh well, it's very good motivation for me not to become a couch potato and such. Plus, I was running next to Nicole who basically is a gazelle while she runs, and while I won't ever have as long of legs as her, I can achieve running next to her without feeling as though I'm going to die/pass out (whichever comes first).
So...here I go! Wish me luck!

My relization...
So this blogging thing is pretty cool! I'm really liking it and I think I may start my own personal blog just for fun!!! Anyhows...I got up yesterday and got dressed only to note that the shirt I put on (one of my favorites) looked absolutely horrible. It's now too small. :-( The realization that I really need to kick it into gear hit me like a boxing glove on Muhammad Ali. I told a friend we had to go shopping so I could buy new clothes that fit, and then I decided that's not what I really want. I want to look good in the cute clothes I already have. And if anything I want new clothes that is not the size I am. So...I'm changing!!!! I put on a different shirt and I'm doing crunches and sit-ups each evening before I go to bed. It's just enough to make me a little more tired, a little warmer and I'll sleep better knowing I did something for me!

Melissa Smashing the Fat!
Hey girls!
I just started the "Fat Smash Diet" today and I think I will be able to stick with it this time (I've tried to do it two times before and only got through one week). I'm going to type up as much as possible for you guys, if you're interested in doing the fat smash diet also... If so, would it be best to post everything here, or just make a Word document and email it to you guys? Either way is easy for me... so let me know! I'm feeling good (just a bit hungry) but I did Tae Bo Cardio this morning and the sun finally showed up! So good day overall. :)
I really like reading your stories and I'm excited to see how this blog will turn out!

Sickness and Running.
Hey there!
So I just wanted to report that this week in both my Aerobics class and my Walking for Fitness class we had to run the mile. I was kind of excited for it because I've been working out pretty well with those classes' help all throughout the semester, so I decided to run each of them even though I'm sick.
I was doing well in Aerobics on Wednesday until about the fourth lap around the track when my vision started going blurry at the edges. I decided i'd better slow down and pace myself before I blacked out. I walked the next lap and part of each of the last three, but I still make a time 3 full minutes faster than I had at the beginning of the semester: 12:06.
Then, on Thursday, I also decided to run (apparently almost blacking out had taught me nothing) and had a couple of friends in that class to keep me motivated. I only made it till about the third lap when my stupid clogged nose and hacking cough decided to act up. I told the girls to go on ahead of me, but ran as much as I could for the rest of the laps without killing myself. Even with the illness, I was able to finish a minute faster than I had the day before: 11:09!
I'm excited to get rid of this cold so I can go run and see how fast I can go a whole mile. I know it's not the best time in the world, but I am still proud of my improvement :D And my motivation to go even though I was sick. So, patting myself on the back *pat pat pat* and telling myself to keep it up over the holidays. I can tell, especially now that classes are over, the holiday stuff is all kicking into full gear, and that means lots of unhealthy treats, less business (and therefore more opportunities to be lazy) and so on and so forth. Keeping my fingers crossed, I hope that it won't have too hard an effect on me!
Ciao!

My Diet Dr. Pepper and God's help to me
YIPPEE! I'm so excited for you Melissa. I didn't do so good today. I was so hungry and had no time so I went to Arby's on my way from work to school. I was good and got it gluten free (no bun). and I took a swig of that amazing diet Dr. pepper!!! OOO was it good. Then as I turned the corner I spilt my drink. Not just a tip over. Litterally the whole thing all over the driver's side of my truck :-( serves me right. I shlouldn't have been drinking it any how. I deserved to lose it, and thought about going back to ask for a refil, but thought better and let it be. So drink down to the floor! And spirits up about God making the right thing happen when you still keep messing up!

One step...

Hey!
I"m here in the Netherlands and the poopy weather but was reallly excited about today. I got up and stayed active most of the day. AND when I felt hungry and needed a snack, I ate an apple instead of something less healthy! I was really excited about that, and I hope that this "new, healthy, fit" me will last... (I also watched part of the Biggest Loser... and that was inspiration enough to start being healthier). Can't wait to hear your stories!!
